myLot Discussions| Have you ever heard of an Anti-bark Collar? | | I got an email from Kmart yeasturday about how for one day you could get 40% off your online purchase..well..while browsing through I went to the pet supplies and there it was. An anti bark collar. Hmm..so I read the product description and it basically shocks them after they get a warning beep. Now I have known some dogs in the neighborhood that I have thought needed a good shock..lol..but I am a bit torn about this product because that was in the middle of the night without much rest. Help me decide. What do you think about this collar? Is it a good training method or do you think it is cruel? | |

| | Howling Madness! Hahahaha! | | Here is a shot of my Buster howling outside like he does eaxch time a stranger walks down the street. Beagles are known howlers. Beagles are also known for their keen sense of smell. Buster will stick his nose in the air then start his howling widly. I will look around not seeing anything. Then a minute later someone will walk past the house. he smells them a block away and starts howling. We have had Buster for nearly 4 years or so I think. When we first got him, his howling seemed to have angered some neighbors to the point that we had the cops called on us for the noise. The 3rd time the cops were called they sat in their squad car with the windows down, parking a couple houses away from my house, listening to the noise from Buster. After a few minutes they talked to me saying that it was just normal activity and barking etc from Buster but to try to keep it down as much as possible. Well I did nothing at all as far as the howling and have not gotten any complaints about Busters howling/barking since. He still does it as much as before. Maybe the neighbors just got used to his howling? Have you ever had run ins with the cops and neighbors regarding a dog of yours at all? Bites,... | |

I just moved into my mom's house which is connected to another house I am afraid that the neighbors will get fed up with all of her barking. If anybody has tried the bark collar please let me know if it worked for you or not. | | attack of the neighbor | | Last week my neighbor showed up at my door waking me up from my nap with the baby (my husband was off but he was out with our oldest son). She started yelling at me about having enough of me and my dogs and the my dogs are attacking her through the fence. I was completely taken back by her attack. My dogs bark at noises, you know doing their job which I hate; I can't stand barking dogs so I stop them every time I hear them. There is a 8 foot solid board fence around my entire yard but her dog keeps pulling one of the boards out making a place for my dogs to get their heads through to bark. My youngest dog is very territorial and feels everything she can see is hers so when she can see through the fence she will bark even more. The neighbor claims that she is so afraid of my dogs that at night she won't put her dog out because she doesn't know if they will attack or not. She claims that she gets her husband or their tenant to put the dog out. I told her that is silly because my dogs are in at night from 7 pm until we get up in the morning around 7 am, with a bathroom outing before bed and they are in every time we go out so that they can earn their keep and do their job. | | If you had a taser | | If you had a taser would you randomly test it out on people you know like friends and family or would you walk through a big crow and taser random people and then run like hell so they wont get up and come beat the living crap out of you? If i were to get one i'd like to know if it works so yeah i'd want to test it out to make sure it works incase of the a real need to use it, but I couldn't use it on my friends or family so i'd have to go into a crowd lol. We bought a bark collar for our dog so he wouldn't bark so much when we left during the day and make the neighbors angry, but still to this day i have no idea if it really works. and I'm sure as heck not putting that thing on my neck to test it out lol. | |
| | I would like to introduce you to Petie | | Here is a picture of my dog petie, he is a Papillion and he is 5 years old. He is only lbs. The average weight of Papillion’s is 5 to 10 lbs. He loves to play catch with his toys. I have named most of his toys. Once he gets to know the name of his toys then I can tell him to go and get BoBo or the Pumpkin and he will.
The thing I hate about Petie is he is a little barker and he has a yappy bark. I swear he barks at the wind. I have a bark collar I use which I put on him which shocks him when he barks. I hate using it, but sometimes his barking gets out of control.
I take Petie to visit patients in the hospital and he loves going, he also love getting groomed. He is smaller than his two cats. One cat is 10 lbs and the other is 12 lbs. He loves his sisters the cats; we are all a family so I call the cats his sisters. he gets her husband or their tenant to put the dog out. | | She needs some help | | My mom has a Great Pyrenees pup who is about 15 months old. He is a gorgeous pup. But he barks a lot. He is very observant. He notices if something is out of place or something new is around. But sometimes he seems to bark for no reason. My mom has had some problems establishing her authority with him so this does not help. She does not have the money to take him to obedience training. She said she is going to buy him a "bark collar" and I really do not want her to. Does anyone have any suggestions as to how she can minimize the amount of barking without having to buy him a "bark collar"? | |
