Invisible Fence...
This apparently didn't actually post to the interest because of the problems the site was going through, so I'll try again... Does anyone use or know someone who has an "invisible fence" for their dog? I just want to say, though it's a convenient little tool, it's cruel. My parents got one for their dog and when she first crossed that line and was zapped, I think that is one of the most horrible sounds I've ever heard! She was terrified and, clearly, in pain. Though now, a month or so later, she has gotten the hang of it. She can run around the yard on her own and she knows where not to go. She chased off some deer one day and stopped at the end of the yard. The little beeping before being zapped reminds her where she can't go, yet it still seems only a beep or two away from a painful experience. I wish there was at least a couple feet from the line before the pain came...So I'm just wondering, anyone else one? Have you considered it?

Electric Fences for Dogs
A woman walking down the street near her home was just attacked and mauled by a hound mix. The owner was using an invisible fence to keep the dog in the yard. It failed and the dog darted straight at the lady and attcked. A young girl hearing her screams came running out of her house and beat the dog off her with the help of some other people. They had to pry the woman out of the dogs mouth. The dogs owner is the one who called 911. What is your take on these? Do you think they work well? Do you think they are a training technique to teach your animal to stay in the yard or more of an invisible barrier?
Just got a fence put up
My dogs are sooo very happy since I had a fence put up today. Now they can run and jump and play. No more leashes unless we want to go on a walk. Do you have a fenced yard? Is it an invisible fence? I have an aluminum fence up.
Pregnancy in minitur pincher/corgey with a brown lab
i am asking this for a relative, but she has a small miniture pincher/corgey dog that stays in the yard with the invisible fence. while she was camping this weekend, a brown lab came into the yard and mounted her. she never had blood yet, and today she is bleeding like haveing a period and she is all swollen. she will be a year old in december. could she be pregnant after this one time? is it going to be dangerous for her to give birth to a larger dogs babies? the husband was home with the dog while she was camping, and he didn't see the other dog come into the yard until it was too late.
Irreponsible Owners
I can't seem to get why people get pets when they don't want to deal with the reasonability that comes with it in the first place? Why get a dog knowing that you don't want to take the time out of your life to walk it on a daily basis. Or adopt a cat when you don't want to bother cleaning the litter box at least once a week. Haven't these people watched the Animal Planet? Hell, the news has had segments about this topic. They've all said the same thing: GETTING A PET MEANS RESPONASBILITY.It isn't that hard to get. Really. My former nextdoor neighbor gave her dog up simply because she didn't want to walk it. Knowing here, I'm betting it had to do with the fact that the dog lost its initial puppy cuteness. What kind of message is that gone to send to her daughter? That you can give up a dog once you get bored of it? I could understand if it bit her or if they didn't have the room for it. But they gave it away simply because they didn't want to walk it. That's just laziness in my opinion. But in the long run it is better that they gave it away before they gave up on other 'chores.' (They didn't have a fenced in backyard, so letting it out for more then ten seconds wasn't a...
What Do You Know about Invisible Dog Fences?
I have to move from my house very soon with my 3 dogs. Not by choice, my landlord sold my house.. so I'm looking for a place I can keep my puppies that has a fenced back yard. They have a huuuuge fenced yard here to run in, so they're not used to having to be walked on a leash anymore..and they love to run in the yard, so I feel like I need a place with a yard they can play in. I have the opportunity to buy a mobile home if I can come up with the 1800.00 down payment in the limited time I have left to find a place, but its in a mobile home park. They will let me have my dogs, but they require you to walk your dogs on a leash because they dont let you put up fences on the property. The good thing is its in the same park my mom and dad live in and just 2 trailers away from them..so It would be pretty kewl to be able to get it. I will eventually move it to a piece of land so they can have their own place to run, but in the meantime they will need to be in the park, so I'm thinking maybe I'll try invisible fence. That way, I can let them go outside and run at least around the outside of the trailer. I'd just have to be out there with them to make sure no other animal comes into the...
