My dad took him hunting one weekend and someone who was there fed him pinto beans. After they got home, the dog was so tired he fell asleep on the kitchen floor. He had never had beans like this before and they made him sick. But, he was so tired, he never even woke up while he was making a yucky mess on the floor. My mom was so mad. | |
| | Beagles, I need some advice! | | Since, I am thinking of getting myself a Beagle, I thought that I could get some advice or some tips on keeping my dog healty and happy. I live in an apartment so I am not looking for a big dog, the beagle best suits me and my tastes. I've heard that if you have only one Beagle it gets lonely since it is a hunting dog and it is used to be with more of its kind. Is this true? So, please some advice would be useful:) | |
| | This is really happening right now, the person living in the house next to me | | has five new puppies. They got out of the 3x3 pen and came over to my house.You could count every rib they were so hungry. Everytime we seem the five puppies they wanted a lot of food. Eating until it looked like the bellies was going to burst. I seen them a few hours ago in that 3x3 pen. These are part hound dog/hunting dog. They are pretty big puppies, five of them in that pen is way to many.They look like they have not had any food in weeks... What should I do? I have took them food which I will do again before I go to bed. I can't do it everynight at some point she has to step up here. Am I right? Should I call in? | |
| | "Stupid People" | | I was compeled to start this discussion because the more and more I think about the story I am about to tell you the more and more I get rielled up!!! Here goes....I wont mention any specific company names as to not damage their reputations,(not that I care at this point).Ok so i ordered a Playstation 2 console from a company that sells electronics, computers, accessories, etc. They have their own credit and i have a perfered account with them. Well my husband and I are Phantasy Star online junkies and the system was for him becasue while playing Monday evening his just stopped working. We have an addiction to the game and I got right on the internet and ordered it with next day shipping and everything,(meanwhile we were borowing a friends, who also has an addiction to playing online but to poker) So we needed to get it here fast, and didnt have the money to go any buy one at a store right at the moment.
Just to give you a little discription of my home the place that this console was going to be delivered, it is a large house, the front entrance near the road has a big roofed porch and we have lawn chairs and a table on it. It is conpletly accessable, and used daily. The... | |
| | Ignorant breeding makes me sick! | | I've seen a lot of people talking about their dogs and cats having litters today and it really aggravates me! Everyone is busy saying "ooh congrats, how cute"...does no one else see that this is terribly wrong? Every single puppy or kitten born is one more home taken away from an animal in need. Besides which I have yet to see any of these people going about it with any kind of reasonable ethical standards!
Before your pet ever reaches breeding age ask yourself what does your pet have to offer the gene pool? "He/She is just sooo cute and I wuv him/her soooo much" just won't cut it! Every dog and cat is soooo cute and they all deserve to be "wuved" soooo much! That doesn't mean that they offer anything beneficial to the gene pool!! If they don't spay/neuter them right away! They can still be "cute and wuved" till you both turn blue and not be bred!
I deal in dogs, Great Danes to be exact, so I'll speak from my own experience but all of this could just as easily be taken for cats, ferrets, or any kind of animal.
First you must consider if your dog honestly has something that would help improve upon the breed. Is s/he outstanding conformationally or as a working/herding/hunting... | |

| | Do you spend more time hunting with your dog than playing with him or her? | | I have a black Lab that I rasied for waterfowl hunting and he is very good at hand signaling and blind retreives. Aside from training, which is the most time spent with him, I hunt with my dog more than I play with him. For a hunting dog, or as the professionals would say, 'working dog', This is suppose to be best because the dog would lose his sense of strick dicipline if you play with him too much. Whats everybodys view on this? Should a working dog be played with as much as or more than he is hunted with? | |
